About This Course:
The Modified Family Assessment Form (MFAF) is an evidence-based assessment used to evaluate family functioning through the lens of the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT). It serves as a guide for developing strength-based, relationally focused treatment plans. Participants in this training will learn how to apply a three-tier process for using the MFAF to assess family dynamics across three primary targets of assessment. The course will explore how clinicians can convert MFAF ratings into clear, relational treatment goals that elevate family strengths and support systemic thinking. Additionally, participants will examine how the MFAF can be used in supervision to promote fidelity to the treatment model, enhance clinical judgment, and improve outcomes. This training is intended for clinicians, supervisors, and program leaders seeking practical strategies to deepen the quality of assessment and treatment planning in family-based settings.

Dr. Jennifer Benjamin is a license professional counselor and has her doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She’s the associate director at the Philadelphia Child and Family Therapy Training Center. training Center. She’s the former Clinical Director of a large community based mental health clinical for children and adolescents receiving evidence- based care.
Pinky Patel, LMFT
Ms. Pinky Mehta is a licensed marriage and family therapist, and an approved AAMFT supervisor. She is the director of the Philadelphia Child and Family Therapy Training Center and the Program Director of the Outpatient Family Therapy Program Creative Health Services. She also has a QPR Gatekeeper Instructor Certification.
